About Our Piercings

Artistic tattoo uses pre-sterilized, one-time use needles and new, sterilized jewelry. Clamps are cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner and run through an autoclave. All other materials are disposable products. the skin is cleaned with povidone Iodine, and for oral piercings, we use mouthwash. At Artistic Tattoo, we keep up with industry standards by reading trade magazines, attending conventions, internet research and speaking with others in the industry.

Oral Piercing After-Care

1. ATTENTION: Before touching or cleaning any piercing, first wash your hands with hot water & anti-bacterial soap. Take a toothbrush, toothpaste & mouthwash with you everywhere! No Excuses!
2. CLEANING: Brush your teeth at least twice a day & after any meal. After you brush your teeth, use the toothbrush to gently clean the jewlery and surrounding area. You will also need to rinse your mouth for 30 to 60 seconds with Listerine Mouthwash at least four to five times a day. Rinse after eating, drinking, smoking or putting anything in your mouth other than ice or water. This is also a good time to make sure your jewelry is tight & secure.
3. EATING: Try to eat soft foods in small bites. Try putting food directly onto molars, avoiding new piercing & jewelry. Avoid foods that are crunchy or require heavy chewing. Be gentle and take your time. During the initial healing process we recommend sucking on crushed ice to help relieve swelling & pain. And remember to brush and rinse after eating anything!
4. THINGS TO AVOID: Unnecessary touching or playing with the jewelry, bodily fluids, oral sex (giving), rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, triadine, betadine, witch hazel, friends advice, straws, hard cereal, very hot or very cold food and liquids. DO NOT DRINK BEER! Beer contains yeast, which can lead to a yeast infection in your mouth.

Surface Piercing After-Care

1. ATTENTION: Before touching or cleaning any piercing, first wash your hands with hot water & anti-bacterial soap. We do recommend cleaning your piercing at least twice a day with hot water & Dial Gold Anti-Bacterial Soap.
2. CLEANING: Lather the ring and surrounding surface area thoroughly. Use a Q-Tip if necessary to remove any crust or residue from the ring and surrounding surface area. Lather the ring and rotate the piercing, this cleans the wound & helps prevent infection. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Repeat until piercing is fully healed.
3. IN CASE OF INFECTION: Fill a Bathroom Dixie Cup with hot water and a 1/2 tablespoon of Sea Salt, soak area for 10-15 mins, twice a day, then rinse with warm water. Repeat until piercing is healed. Signs of infection are red, irritated tissue and white or yellow discharge.
4. THINGS TO AVOID: Unnecessary touching or rubbing, bodily fluids, rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, triadine, betadine, witch hazel, friends advice, pools, hot tubs, lakes, rivers, lotion, suntan oil, baby oil & direct sunlight.
